Start the day exploring the ancient woodlands of Highclere Park, the perfect place for a forested hike, complete with the grandeur of Highclere Castle, the famous location for filming the TV series Downton Abbey!
Enjoy the wide range of wild flowers on a summer’s day as you trek across the chalk downland and tackle the climb up Beacon Hill, for a well-earned picnic lunch at the peak of the iron age hill fort. With superb views over the Highclere Castle estate and the Berkshire countryside, absorb the stunning panoramic views from all around!
In the afternoon, the stakes are high as you gear up for an epic paintballing battle, with no option for retreat or surrender!
You’ll be kitted up with all the paintballing gear, and then it’s time for action! There will be the opportunity to play 4-6 different games during the session as you battle superheroes and supervillains, the living and the dead and even encounter the supernatural! There’s also the opportunity to experience the largest constructed galleon in UK paintballing!
After saving the human race with victory on the battlefield, it’s a brave return to civilization with drop-off at 18:00 pm Mereoak Park & Ride, RG7 1JY or alternatively at 18:30 pm Reading Train Station Taxi Zone, Station Hill RG1 1LZ .
Walk details: 4 km / 4 miles | Total ascent 223m | approx. 2 hours
Terrain: A moderate route, reasonably level travelling through forested areas. A stretch of steep ascent, with a strenuous section the top of Beacon Hill Iron Age hill fort, with panoramic views all around. Largely obstacle free (no steps or stiles, but possibly some gates). Expect stony and grassy track surface, mostly even but there may be soft sections.
