The sun is here in full glory!
Summer is definitely here and our four-legged friends at the Little Hidden Farm kicked-off the 2019 season for us in style. The horses were on top behaviour for our horse-riding day and all very deserving of the carroty treats we brought for them!
If you’ve not had the opportunity to explore the North Wessex Downs yet, I thoroughly recommend a visit. The Wiltshire countryside is one of the most beautiful places for a hike at this time of year. Expect to be treated with fields of rapeseed stretching as far as the eye can see.
The North Wessex Downs has a walking festival in a few weeks’ time – do pop along to enjoy the vibrant colours of the countryside and join the sheep and pheasants basking in the sunshine!
I was so very much looking forward to our all-day kayak in the Wye valley this year and it really was the most enjoyable time spent paddling down the river Wye – smooth waters and blue skies all the way. I am utterly smitten with the area and promise to get us back there next year for more adventures.
Going, Going, Gone!
Speaking of Wine Tasting, we’ll be back to visit another corner of the North Wessex Downs for a full morning of hiking and soaking up the Wiltshire scenery. We’re showcasing some award-winning local cheeses and other summery nibbles before moving on to a local wine plantation to learn about the traditional techniques for wine making. And what better way to wrap-up a day in the sun than a lazy afternoon by the River Thames. I am thoroughly looking forward to it!
Grab a Spot
I mentioned that availability on the tours is now limited, so apologies if you don’t have a place yet for something that you are keen to do. The good news is that space does become available last minute so keep your eyes open on the BAND app a few days beforehand to grab a spot!
Our End-of-Season Party
I love this annual event – and we’re doing our bit to inspire more people to give this thrilling underground pursuit a go!
I hope you do come to CaveFest to enjoy the festival atmosphere and the beauty of the Brecon Beacons. And if caving isn’t your thing – there’ll be walking tours, music, entertainment – even paragliding! I look forward to seeing you all there 😊
Speaking of Wales, I’m pleased to share details of some splendid craft workshops this summer in WernogWood.
Set within the wildflower meadows, wild garlic and bluebells of the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this is an opportunity to try your hand at learning some new skills!
Discover the art of chair-making, timber frame building and jewellery-making in this beautiful hideaway alongside the very talented Claire Acworth.
I had the opportunity to see Claire’s artwork at an open-studio a few weeks ago and am looking forward to giving the jewellery-making a go. I’ll keep you updated with my artistic progress!
Finally, I shall spend the remainder of this evening attending an infestation of hydrangea scale. Let’s hope I don’t burn down the balcony…
